Jason Fletcher
For Jason Fletcher, Greenville, South Carolina sometimes feels like a big city. When you’re from Cashion, Oklahoma (population 500) a city of 60,000 is a pretty big leap. And to be a prominent restaurateur in a city with a growing culinary scene like Greenville, is something Fletcher never planned on.
Fletcher is an IT guy by trade. He spent more than a decade working his way up at Perot Systems and doing technology consulting, traveling through the US and Europe and soaking in as much local culture as he could during each business trip.
It was during his time in Germany working on projects for BMW that fate stepped in. In 2007, Fletcher was asked to relocate to Greenville, South Carolina by BMW management to support efforts at the CU-ICAR facility.
After two years in Greenville, Fletcher started to seriously think about opening his own restaurant. He’d always had a vast interest in the hospitality industry and each time he traveled would scribble notes on a cocktail napkin about the great spots in different cities. He figured he could take more of an IT-approach to the industry- look at the end result and work backwards from there.
And so, with no formal education but a passion for the hospitality industry, Fletcher signed a lease in 2009 for the space formerly known as Paris Café.
October 5, 2009 was opening day at The Green Room on Main Street in Greenville. Fletcher wanted to create a place with “great food, casual atmosphere.”
A year and a half later, opportunity knocked again and Fletcher jumped on the opportunity to take over the former Latitude building further down Main Street and opened Ford’s Oyster House and Cajun Kitchen. A totally different restaurant with a completely different customer.
In 2012 Fletcher opened an event space and catering facility- The Loft at Fall’s Park- which can accommodate up to 250 guests and offers breathtaking views of downtown’s centerpiece The Liberty Bridge.
Never one to sit still, in April 2013, Fletcher opened SIP Rooftop Lounge- Greenville’s first rooftop wine bar. With the addition of a fourth venue, High Street Hospitality Group was officially formed.
